Jon Secada, one of the first successful Latin crossover artists, has been honored with numerous accolades from prestigious organizations, including Grammy Awards, Billboard Latin Music Awards, BMI Latin Awards, World Music Awards, Latin Grammy Awards, Rolling Stone Magazine, and American Music Awards. He earned both his bachelor’s degree in music and a master’s degree in jazz vocal performance.
Beyond being a talented musician, composer, and actor, Secada is a dedicated philanthropist, recognized as the Humanitarian of the Year in 2016 by The Muhammad Ali Foundation. His influence extends far beyond music; through his personal organization, “Jon Secada Charities,” he has supported various charitable causes worldwide, focusing on Hispanic Americans, children, education, AIDS research, and child abuse. Secada’s commitment to education is evident in his creation of the Jon Secada Music Scholarship at the University of Miami.
He has also been a prominent advocate for Hepatitis C awareness, partnering with MERCK and The American Liver Foundation. His efforts in this area were recognized by the Pan American Health Organization, which honored him as a leader in global Hepatitis C awareness. In September 2012, Secada headlined the “Miami Rocks The Troops” benefit concert, supporting U.S. military veterans across the country.
